Holy Crap… I’m in Prizren!!!
Way down south in Kosovo is beautiful Prizren. I had originally planned to spend more time here using it as a base for day trips, but it turned out to be much easier venturing out from Peja, so I decided instead to just spend a full day exploring the city. I still didn’t want to miss seeing Prizrens famous fortress or it’s historic old town.
After the short bus ride from Peja, I checked into my hostel right in the middle of the old town and headed up to the main attraction, Prizren Fortress. The hike up was steep but short. In this unbelievably hot weather though, it was exhausting! Luckily, there was a small ice cream stand at the top and some shade.
As always, I had a blast exploring and climbing all over the ruins, but the best part about coming up here were the views over Prizren and the Shar Mountains on the other side.
The walk back down from the fortress was much easier than going up. I had a pretty easy day after that. I checked out the mosque, the 17th century Turkish bath, and the Ottoman Bridge. After dinner I spent the evening chatting with with my Turkish and Saudi roommates and preparing for my border crossing tomorrow, which I’m just as nervous about as the last one. I decided to skip the nasal probe again. Hopefully that wasn’t a mistake.
Sorry for the extremely short post, but Prizren was a very short, albeit pleasant stop. Assuming the border crossing goes well, the next stop will be a big one. Wish me luck!
